Here’s a little lighter fare: I just found a program that “frees” your dashboard widgets! (Those of you on PCs are confused… just ignore this post.
So Amnesty is this program that lets you run your dashboard widgets on your desktop. It lets you adjust things like whether they’re embedded in the desktop, a standard window, or “floating” on top of all the other windows, plus their location, angle, opacity level, whether or not you can click them or not… very, very cool. Right now I have a widget that shows the album art of my currently playing music slightly translucent and not clickable. That means I can see whatever is in the program I’m working in behind it (useful for efficiency purposes), but I still get to show people at a glance what I’m listening too. Plus I have a widget that displays the lyrics of the currently playing song. It’s a standard window, so if I come up on a song that I’ve never bothered to learn the lyrics for, I can pull it up, switch it over to “floating” while the song and continue working with the lyrics right there in front of me…
Sure I could just leave my dashboard up the whole time, but then I can’t work on other things (ahem, like blogging, cuz that’s work…)
The only downside is that it isn’t free… it’s $20 to register, but I’m going to milk the 30 day trial as much as possible first…

Hey! PC users aren’t lost in “Widget World”. Yahoo has a bunch of widgets you can use with their engine or the konfabulator tool. I’ve got way too many widgets on my dual display @ work. Not too many work on this iPAQ, though… 8^)
