So I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately. In fact, I spent 2 months down here in the Dallas area without my wife (well except for the one weekend my new job flew her down to see me… THANK YOU WES AND CHRISTINA!), so I’ve had a good bit of time to myself. Add to that the fact that it is the summer blockbuster season (THANK YOU JAWS!) and you’ve got all the makings for a lot of afternoons, evenings, and early mornings in the theater.
But we have a problem. I’ve grown accustomed to certain things… Namely, when a movie comes out and is listed as limited release, I know that even if it’s not out in Orland Park, IL… that I can waltz my happy butt downtown and catch said flick just off Michigan Ave… or a myriad of other less known, and infinitely more shadey parts of Chicago. So I wake up this morning and I know two things:
1. I’m only working a half day today
-and-
2. A Scanner Darkly comes out today
The problem? It’s “limited release”, which apparently means, in Texasese, “not showing here”. Dallas, you greatly disappoint me today. Even the Angelika, the local art-house here in the Dallas area, isn’t showing it (it is of course showing Keanu’s other movie… Lake House – explain that one to me). So, I guess I’ll just go on home when I leave work and watch whatever Netflix decided to drop off today. Yeah, I know… it’s an addiction.

Yay! Working! Sorry Dallas hasn’t wooed you over completely yet…usually we do get the cooler underground movies…guess not this time :) Have a good day off.
