Kilt #2!

It’s here and it looks smashing!

Clark Kilt

For those of you wondering, that’s the Clergy Tartan… the first tartan made exclusively for an occupation. I’m not exactly a minister, but I figure working at Lake Pointe Church qualifies me! This kilt is still not a 100% traditionally cut kilt… but it’s a lot closer than my Utilikilt. It has a ton more fabric, the pleats are traditional knife-pleats (versus the UK’s box pleats). It’s 11 oz PolyViscose material which is light enough for Texas summers and appears to be heavy enough for Texas winters so far. The Utilikilt is 8.5 oz cotton twill and traditional wool kilts are 16 oz. worsted wool, in case anyone was interested.

I said it in my UK post, and I’ll say it again… The most (WITHOUT QUALIFICATION THE MOST) comfortable thing I’ve ever worn. If I was allowed to wear them to work, I would only wear pants when doing manual labor or riding a horse… as it is, I get in the door from work, drop trow and throw on a kilt first thing… everything else waits… kissing the wife, letting the dogs out (if the wife isn’t there), grabbing the mail… Seriously, it’s that comfortable. Not to mention it pays homage to my heritage and looks good all at the same time!

If you want to learn more about kilts or just look at some conversations between other kilt wearers… head on over to X Marks the Scot.

Not to nit pick, but a dress has an attached blouse and is designed for women. This is a kilt, designed for men and worn by some of the greatest statesmen, poets, and soldiers of the modern era.
