I would like to set the record straight. I am not a morning person… Sure, I’m up now (and have been for a little while), but that’s what years of having to get up and go to/find work do to you… You’re up, whether you want to be or not. This does not please me. On my days off, I still get up at 7 am. Maybe I’ll decide to sleep in, and I’ll actually make until 8, but not usually. In fact, morning people usually really, really annoy me. At least in the morning, around 10:30 or so they become bearable…
Now, I’m not talking co-workers here. For all I know, they want to sleep in to, but we’re all in the same boat, and we’re making the best of it. What I’m talking about is the college student working at Starbucks that screams good morning at you as you walk in the door. She’s bouncing, almost without noticing and she immediately begins telling you why the music playing is good, slides into how wonderful it is to be alive and then remembers to ask you what beverage you’d like. “Little too much caffenine this morning?” I’ll ask… “Oh I haven’t had my morning coffee yet, I usually wait until after the rush…”
Now, don’t get the impression that I hate mornings… we just don’t get along so well. But, if you want to meet someone who hates mornings, say hello to my wife some time before noon. That woman is all business until lunch. She has actually uttered the phrase, “I hate you,” just because she had to wake up before 7 am one day, and of course it fell to me to actually make sure she got out of bed.
They say opposites attract, but this is one instance where I’m very happy my wonderful wife and I are alike…
Maybe later I’ll try to post something important, but I don’t promise anything…
