Movies and Toddlers

So I watched my 2 year old (3 at the end of August) niece Joline today. We watched the Neverending Story II. Actually, I watched it and she napped in the Lazy Boy with me. Then I read some books to her, spun her around for what felt like an eternity on her Sit N Spin. Then we got out the ole playskool (what a brand name for kids btw, let’s start misspelling stuff early!) play houses, and drove the toy cars (driven by Elmo and whatever the orange guy is) through the 2nd story… and on and on it went. During this Ann took my sister out shopping for a much needed break and some “girl time”. Joline ate some mac-n-cheese, learned that even Uncle Kevin gets a little irate when you smack him in the face a bunch of times, and generally had a good time. As the evening wore on I threw in Evolution, a fairly humorous movie with David Duchovny and Julianne Moore. Joline gasped and shrieked and cuddled with me when the “dinosaurs” (they’re really aliens, but she’s two, cut her some slack) harrassed the townsfolk. She’s now in bed, Ann, Rosie and I are sitting around waiting for Eddie (my brother-in-law) to get home from 2nd shift at the railroad and generally unwinding. Tomorrow we meet up with Ann’s best friend from high school and then it’s off to my reunion.

That’s all for now, I’d hate to be considered anti-social whilst a guest in someone’s house…

    Nieces are the BEST!!

I got to hold and cuddle mine Tuesday night for an hour and a half.

Granted, there is a huge difference between your commitment level of keeping the child happy (when they’re 2 months vs. 2 years).

I think I got the easier end of the deal.

They sure are a blessing though, aren’t they?
