So I got psycho-analytical on myself today… I was rollin’ down highway 30 on the way to work today and I was rockin’ out to Metallica’s cover of “Tuesday’s Gone” (for those of you who haven’t heard it, it’s not your normal Metallica… it’s pretty close to the original Skynard version). Back to my point. Tuesday’s Gone is probably my favorite Skynard song. My favorite Foo Fighters song hands down is “Everlong”, some of my favorite Zeppelin tunes are “Tangerine” and “Hey, Hey What Can I Do”. The list goes on and on…as I go through the artists I regularly listen to, I notice my favorite songs all have the same theme… abandonment and unreturned love.
Really got me thinking about things from my past, and whether or not I’m really over them. I have concluded that I really and truly am. So, does that mean I’m subconciously scared that something is going to happen in my future? Not hardly. The wife and I are more in love each and every day and we have chosen to love God and each other enough to work through whatever comes our way… But there are just some things that it looks like I’ll always have a connection with, things that really cut to the core of me.
Well, that’s enough self-analyzing on my part for one day I think. What themes do you connect with most in your music?
