28 Years!

Well it’s official.  I’ve made it 28 years without any fatal errors in judgement, cataclysmic accidents (well, none that caused my death any way), or pissing some one off enough take me out.

Seriously though, it’s amazing what a year can do.  When 2006 started I was living in the Chicagoland area,  “self-employed” (my wife still thinks I was an unemployed shiftless lay-about), semi-happily married, and extremely stressed out because I seldom knew where the next pay check was coming from and spent time doing something I was passionate about even less often.

So here I am in 2007, starting a new year of my life at the age of 28.  Things couldn’t be more different.  I live in Texas.   I wake up every morning (okay, most mornings) invigorated and ready to start the day.  I head off to a full time job that I love, doing what I love to do 90% of the time I spend at work.  Ann and I are happier together than ever before.

More than all of that, I am now irrevocably in a different stage of life.  Before now I was just some married guy.  Now, for all that is left of eternity, I will be a father.  The Lord entrusted me with raising up at least one person of the next generation, and if that doesn’t change the way you look at the world… nothing will.

Despite all of these changes, I am still an overly aggressive driver, generally cantankerous/grumpy in crowded places, loud and obnoxious at parties, and quiet and withdrawn with the things that are really important to me.  I still like spending an obscene amount of time watching T.V./movies and/or playing video games.  Because of this I still randomly quote obscure movies to groups of people who have no idea what I’m talking about.  I still like retardedly expensive hobbies that I only marginally participate in (due to the retardedness of their expense, obviously).

Well, enough introspective musings… I need to go throw on a kilt (since I can’t wear it to work… and no, I’m not bitter) and head off for a little b-day fun!
