So we had an amazing Easter service this year. We opened with a mash up of “I Can’t Get No (Satisfaction)” by the Stones and “Kyrie” by Mr. Mister, we shot some great cardboard testimonies of our people which lead into the song “Beautiful Things” by Gangor and we wrapped the whole thing up with [...]

Christmas Eve
Well, we had 4 amazing Christmas Eve services this past week. Here’s a look at some of the various pieces that went into it: 1. Christmas Faith Story. Scott Milder shares with us the journey he took to faith. 2. The Christmas Story. Each year we try to do a humorous bit, this year we [...]
Sneak Peek
I probably shouldn’t do this… but we’ve been working hard and I can’t wait – here’s a little sneak peek at what we’re working on for Christmas Eve… [ Javascript required to view QuickTime movie, please turn it on and refresh this page ]
Time Lapse!
So I hooked our 5D MkII up to a spare laptop and captured the following time lapse of our recent speaker install. Unfortunately the HDD I was using started to fail, so there’s some missing data at the beginning and the end, but you get the idea… Speaker Install Timelapse from Kevin Dooley on Vimeo.
Work I’ve done lately.
Here’s a couple of videos we’ve used in service lately that I’ve shot and edited (with help from my awesome coworkers of course). One Verse Cafe from Kevin Dooley on Vimeo. How Not to Prayer Walk from Kevin Dooley on Vimeo.
Mission Control, we are GO for launch.
Repeat, we are GO on all systems. So Monday morning we hit the ground running. We spent hours talking through the various failures and lacks of systems. We poured through manuals to see where we went wrong. We ran a full hour test transmission… only to still have problems. We went back to the drawing [...]
Dichotomy on a Sunday Morning
So this weekend (for those of you who weren’t in attendance at Lake Pointe), I trained for and performed a new duty. I was the House Producer for our 3 services at our Rockwall campus. This position is basically in charge of making sure that the service happens correctly and timely. Pre-service any and all [...]
It’s all history…
D’oh! I forgot to update this! When Ann and I were in Chicago, I worked a lot of productions – mostly commercials (Turtle Wax, Coors, some kind of vodka, a mortgage company, a plethora of others). So this pic is from the pinnacle of my production work in Chicago, and also my last production before [...]
Open Invitation
So this is a little late (I had the best of intentions of posting this weeks ago), but tomorrow night (Monday) at 7pm in the chapel at Lake Pointe the ceremony to license me to the ministry will be conducted. Dress is business casual and any of you guys who are local are invited to [...]
WOOT!
Remember last week faithful readers (all two of you) when I said that relief had finally come? Well, things just got better today. Ann just received a call from the Missions department here at church… and they have decided to hire her! She’ll start full time a week from tomorrow as the Missions Coordinator (or [...]
The next American Idol?
So that is Jason Castro. He sings at our church on a regular basis… or rather, he did. He auditioned for American Idol during the fall when they were in Dallas and was selected to head to Los Angeles. So keep tabs on him… maybe I might know another famous person!
Relief
I’m not going into all the details, because this is the internets and anyone can read this, but today brought some much needed relief. So much so that I’m almost tearing up as I sit here in shock.
Love and Magic
So Saturday I performed my first wedding ceremony. I united my little sister and her now husband, Joe. At the couple’s request it was a short ceremony that I basically wrote from scratch. Sure it covers all the same ground as a typical American wedding, but it was in my own words. Open It or [...]
REAL SNOW!!
Okay, here’s the Joseph the Musical segment from our last service, including the live setup and finale. For the record, at the end we had REAL SNOW to throw at our teaching pastor… and he had no idea we did… It was awesome!
